In 2015, Intel will continue its R&D for innovation while exploring new territories of emerging applications. At the International CES 2015, our company announced a series of technology development plans and progresses, including the Intel® Curie™ module as small as a button customized for wearable solutions; Intel® RealSense™ for robots, flying multi-copter drones, and 3D immersive experiences; as well as Diversity Technology initiative. Moreover, at Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2015, we announced many advanced mobile platform solutions. The solutions announced at MWC 2015 include Intel Atom x3, x5, and x7 processors; Intel XMM 7360 LTE Advanced solution to global connectivity; as well as mobile devices and network infrastructures developed together with many customers. Moreover, the first ever Intel Xeon SoC was launched in the first quarter. The SoC is manufactured with Intel’s industry-leading 14nm technology that combines the intelligence and high performance of Intel Xeon with the small size and power efficiency of SoC.
In terms of our commitment to education, there has been good news from the 2015 Taiwan International Science Fair. Thirteen local students selected at the fair will take part in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair on behalf of Taiwan. Creativity demonstrated by these Taiwan young scientists is expected to encourage even more students to pursue scientific research. In terms of public interest initiatives, the cooperation between Acer and Intel in participation in TechSoup gathering more than 200 PCs for the Frontier Foundation. Charity and welfare organizations may apply to the Frontier Foundation for such PCs for them to better help the underprivileged. Moreover, volunteers from Intel Taiwan visited the Garden of Hope Foundation’s women’s shelter, where they repainted the walls, taught computer skills to teenage girls, and made clay works together with young children, bringing in a happy afternoon to those teenage girls and young children.
